“My sister and I have been learning guitar and bass separately with Mark since 2016 (he must be doing something right!). I used to see him in person but since Covid I’ve been doing online lessons and they work just as well and are very convenient. Mark allows the freedom to explore the music of my own choice, so essentially he tailors the lessons to support what I wish to get out of them. However, he always has great suggestions that I haven’t been exposed to yet, often in the blues/jazz genres, and always suggests alternative arrangements for songs. “My two girls have been learning guitar (mainly electric, some acoustic, plus a bit of bass) with Mark for around 5 years. It’s been a great and low-stress way for them to quietly become proficient at guitar. I wish I’d had this chance when I was young. He’s been very happy to work with them on songs that they suggest, which makes it feel quite self-directed and motivating, however he also includes great balance of technique to continually raise the skill level. I came to Mark with zero knowledge of how to play guitar and right from the get-go, Mark actively helped me to find the perfect guitar for me as well as any required accessories and got me playing straight away. A year later and I already have a handful of great tunes under my belt.
Lessons are fun and varied, covering everything from learning scales, picking/strumming patterns, notes and chords to learning your favourite songs every week. Mark can pretty much play anything in any style. Perfect for beginners or advanced players alike.
Mark is patient with but also challenges me to push myself to play better. I love playing and enjoy my lessons, it’s what keeps me coming back!

“I’ve had lessons with Mark for several years and it’s really moved me from a complete beginner to playing in a band, home recording, and singing too which I never imagined I’d do. I’ve also picked up a fair amount of music theory as well.
Mark is willing to take on most songs I throw at him to teach me how to play them, as well as having a vast number of songs he can draw from to teach you, and it’s interesting to see how he covers a tune and puts a personal twist on things.
Not much gets past him, so expect him to pick up on your bad habits but he’ll often have multiple ways to look at a problem and address it. Lessons are quite open in format and often go off in all sorts of directions from where they start! Highly recommended!“
